Become a BYRD Flight Instructor
As a BYRD Flight Instructor, you’ll lead elementary school students on their social-emotional learning journey while forging your own professional path.
Flight Instructors are more than facilitators—they’re mentors who empower young minds to explore their emotional intelligence, build resilience, and develop lifelong wellness practices. Using our innovative WINGS curriculum, you’ll create meaningful, transformative learning experiences while gaining hands-on experience in school settings.

Chart Your Course: Requirements and Benefits
Wingspan Qualifications

Currently enrolled in a higher education program related to youth development or mental health.

Minimum GPA of 2.0.

Commitment to a 12-week program

Ability to serve two 30-minute sessions per week for 10 weeks.

Clearance to work in schools (background check, TB test).
Flight Path Commitment

Attend all required training sessions.

Publish a lesson plan aligned to WINGS curriculum standards.

Track student progress using provided assessment tools.

Submit required reflection and data logs.

Maintain communication with classroom teachers and school staff.
Nesting Schedule

Commit to one full semester (Fall or Spring).

Availability during regular school hours.

Participate in pre- and post-program evaluations.

Attend bi-weekly team meetings.

Dedicate time for intellectual and material preparation.

Reserve time for community engagement events.
Migration Benefits
